Read Your Location History

Look back on your days as stays and trips, see a day's path on the map, add a stay as a place, and fix or delete locations.

Updated

Location › Location History is a timeline of where you’ve been, day by day. Your locations come from tracking, Google Maps Timeline, your photos, and any you log by hand.

The Map

The map draws one day’s path and its numbered stays: your newest day, until you choose another day’s Show on map. One day at a time keeps it readable, since many days’ paths drawn over each other can’t be.

Your Days

Under History, each day lists, newest first:

  • Stays: where you stayed at least 15 minutes, within 200 metres. A stay inside one of your places shows its name; any other is an Unnamed stay.
  • Trips between stays, each with how far it went.
  • Any location in neither, such as one you logged by hand.

Each day also says how far you travelled in all. Older days load as you scroll.

Stays and trips are worked out on your device from the day’s locations, and nothing is looked up by address, so your days never leave the device to be named.

What You Can Do With a Stay or a Trip

Open its … menu:

  • Show on map shows its day on the map.
  • See locations lists the locations it’s made of, in a table.
  • Add as a place, for an unnamed stay, adds a place centred where it was.
  • Delete removes its locations, after you confirm. Imported locations go only with their source’s data.

Tracking, Data, and Countries

  • The badge beside the History heading says whether this device is Tracking or Not tracking. Choose it to open the switch in Settings.
  • See all data opens every location as a table, with its accuracy, altitude, speed, heading, and country, and can be narrowed to one place.
  • Each location’s country is found when it’s saved, from a map of every country’s borders kept by Kaizora, so no service is asked. Time in Country and Countries Visited are metrics of their own.
