Hide or Silence a Default Reference Range
The reference ranges Kaizora comes with, from published guidelines, what each one says, and how to hide one or stop it notifying you.
Updated
Kaizora comes with default reference ranges from published guidelines, so values are flagged before you set up anything. They apply by your sex and age at each value, from your profile.
The Defaults
- Blood pressure: the American College of Cardiology and American Heart Association’s categories, from elevated to severe hypertension.
- Resting heart rate: the limits for bradycardia and tachycardia.
- Oxygen saturation: the World Health Organization’s normal range and its emergency threshold.
- Body mass index: the WHO’s categories, and waist-to-height ratio: NICE’s.
- Fasting plasma glucose and HbA1c: the American Diabetes Association’s prediabetes and diabetes thresholds.
- Total sleep time: the American Academy of Sleep Medicine’s 7 hours for adults.
- Nutrients: the Dietary Reference Intakes for adults, by sex and age: below the Recommended Dietary Allowance (or the Adequate Intake where there’s none), and above the Tolerable Upper Intake Level. Since they’re average daily intakes, each day is judged by the total of the 7 days ending it.
Only guidelines with a clear authority are used. Lab results are mostly judged against the range the lab printed; see Log Your Lab Results.
Read What a Default Says
On the metric’s page, under Reference Ranges, choose the info button beside a default. It says what the guideline says, who published it and when, and what being outside it means, with an article on this site where one explains it.
Ranges for other ages or sexes are folded under yours, as “more for other ages and sexes”.
Hide a Default
A default can’t be changed, but you can hide it: open its … menu and choose Hide. A hidden range neither flags values, notifies you, nor is drawn on the chart. It stays listed as Hidden; choose Show in its menu to bring it back.
Stop a Default From Notifying You
Turn off its Notify switch. It still flags values and is still drawn; it just doesn’t send a notification. To turn off every out-of-range notification, see Choose Your Notifications.
Want a Different Band?
