Log a Food

Log what you ate by choosing it from the food database and its amount, and see today's energy and macronutrients on the Food Log.

Updated

A food is logged by choosing it, never by typing its nutrients: Kaizora scales the food’s nutrients to the amount you ate.

Log a Food

  1. Choose Log, then Food. On Nutrition › Food Log, the form opens straight away.
  2. Under Food, search for it. Your favorite foods come first, then the ones you ate most recently.
  3. Set the Amount, in grams or one of the food’s portions, such as a cup. The energy in that amount shows as you type.
  4. Set the time, add notes if you like, and choose Log.

If the food isn’t there, choose Add custom food in the same dialog: once you’ve saved it, the dialog goes on to log it. See Add a Custom Food.

The Food Log Page

Nutrition › Food Log is for seeing how today is going:

  • Today, at the top: your energy, protein, carbohydrate, and fat so far today, a card each, opening its metric’s page. All four are in your unit of energy: protein, carbohydrate, and fat show the energy they yield, with their grams under it. Where you’ve set a daily target, with a habit on the day’s total or a reference range, each shows the target and how far along you are.
  • See today’s nutrients lists every nutrient in what you ate today, each against your ranges.
  • History: every food you ate, newest first, grouped by day with each day’s energy, each with its name, quantity, calories, and macronutrients. Older days load as you scroll.

Your protein, carbohydrate, and fat by day, stacked as the energy they yield, are on Nutrition’s Overview.

Edit a Food You Logged

Open the food’s … menu and choose Edit to change its amount, time, or notes. Its nutrients are scaled again to the new amount.

A food you logged keeps its own copy of the nutrients, so later changes to the food, or deleting it from the database, never change what you ate.

Imported Foods

Foods from Cronometer or Apple Health came with their own nutrients and no food from the database, so only their notes can be changed.
