How Kaizora Handles Other Currencies

Each amount keeps its own currency and is converted at its own date's exchange rate whenever amounts are added up or shown in yours.

Updated

No currency converts to another at a fixed rate, so Kaizora never changes the currency an amount was recorded in. It converts only when amounts are combined or shown together.

Each Amount Keeps Its Currency

A transaction or a balance records its own currency: a dinner in euros stays in euros, and a balance in Canadian dollars stays in Canadian dollars. A new transaction or balance starts in your display currency; choose another in its Currency field.

An account has no currency of its own, so an account used abroad can hold amounts in several. Its balance history and its balance today are shown in its newest balance’s currency.

Conversion

Whenever amounts are added up or shown in your display currency, such as your cash flow, your net worth, or a chart of your spending, each amount is converted at the exchange rate on its own date, or the latest before it. Last year’s trip is converted at last year’s rate, not today’s.

The rates are the US Treasury’s, official and published for every main currency.

Choose Your Display Currency

  1. Open Settings, then the Units tab.
  2. Under Money, choose your Currency. Until you do, it follows your region.

Changing it changes only how totals are shown; no amount you recorded changes.

Habits and Ranges in a Currency

A habit or a reference range on money is set in a currency, and checked in that currency. A limit of 500 Canadian dollars of spending a week stays 500 Canadian dollars, however exchange rates move.
