Which Values Does Kaizora Calculate?

The metrics Kaizora works out from what you log, why they can't be logged themselves, and how they follow every change.

Updated

Some metrics are calculated from others whenever you look at them, so they’re always current: correct a weight and your body mass index changes at once. They can’t be logged, since each has one way of being made. Their values show Calculated as their source.

What’s Calculated

  • Body: body mass index and waist-to-height ratio, from your weight, height, and waist; basal metabolic rate, by the formula you choose; and your age, from your date of birth.
  • Vitals: mean arterial pressure (calculated) and pulse pressure, from each blood pressure reading; HOMA-IR, from a fasting glucose and a fasting insulin drawn together.
  • Sleep: each sleep’s total sleep time, sleep efficiency, sleep onset latency, and wake after sleep onset, from its spans of time in bed, asleep, awake, and in each stage.
  • Hearing: each ear’s pure-tone average, from an audiogram.
  • Menstrual cycle: each cycle’s length and each period’s length, from your cycle days.
  • Activity: strength training’s volume load, and an estimated one-repetition maximum for the back squat, bench press, and deadlift, from your sets.
  • Location: time at home and at work, time in each country, countries visited, and distance travelled, from your location history.
  • Air quality: your exposure to each air quality metric, from your readings and where you were. See Read the Air Quality Page and Your Exposure.
  • Money: net worth, net cash flow, income, spending, savings rate, and emergency fund coverage, from your balances and transactions.
  • Counts: how many of each kind of thing you logged, such as foods or transactions, so a habit can be keeping a log.
  • Scores: the Sleep Regularity Index and the Kaizora Sleep, Longevity, and Financial Health Scores. See Read a Score’s How It’s Calculated.

Each calculated metric’s page says what it’s calculated from under About, and its … menu at the top right links to the settings it uses, such as your date of birth.

What a Device Calculated

A device’s own number is a metric of its own when it’s measured differently. A blood pressure monitor’s mean arterial pressure, which it measures rather than calculates, is logged as Mean Arterial Pressure (Oscillometric). A clinic’s body mass index, though, is its weight and height: log those, and Kaizora works it out.

Change How Something Is Calculated

In Settings › General, under Calculations, choose the BMR Formula and how often your age updates (Age Updates). Your whole history follows the choice, so a chart never mixes two formulas. The same choices are in the … menu of each metric’s page that uses them.
