What Works When You're Offline

How Kaizora tells you you've lost your connection, what still shows, what waits until you're back, and why saving needs a connection.

Updated

Your data lives in your account, not on your device, so Kaizora needs a connection to load and save it. When yours drops, Kaizora says so, rather than leaving a page loading forever.

How You Can Tell

An icon of a cloud with a line through it appears in the header, and says You’re offline when you point at it. It goes away by itself once you’re back online.

What Still Shows

The pages you’ve already opened keep showing what they had, so you can still read them and move between them.

What Waits Until You’re Back

  • A page you haven’t opened yet says You’re offline and “This will load when you’re back online”. It loads by itself once you reconnect, with no need to reload.
  • Saving anything, such as logging a value, editing or deleting an entry, or importing a file, needs a connection. While you’re offline, the button that saves is disabled, and says Needs a connection when you point at it. What you typed in an open dialog stays there, so you can save it once you’re back.
  • A save the connection dropped in the middle of says “You’re offline. Try again when you’re back online.” Once the icon is gone, check whether it went through, and try again if it didn’t.

Opening Kaizora, or reloading it, while you’re offline doesn’t work, since the app itself loads from the internet. This is the same in the installed app.
