Why Is a Value Shown in a Unit I Didn't Expect?
Why a value you typed in pounds shows in kilograms, how display units follow your region, and how to choose your own.
Updated
Kaizora stores each value exactly, in one standard unit for its metric, and shows it in your display unit for that kind of measurement. The unit you typed it in isn’t kept, so a weight typed in pounds shows in kilograms if kilograms are your display unit. The value itself is the same.
Choose the Unit You Want
- Open Settings, then the Units tab.
- Find the kind of measurement, such as Body Weight or Temperature, and choose your unit.
Or open the … menu at the top right of the metric’s page and choose its Display Unit. Nothing you’ve logged changes.
Where the Defaults Come From
Until you choose, units follow your Region in Settings › General, or your device’s if it’s left to System. In the United States that’s pounds, inches, miles, and Fahrenheit; in France, kilograms, centimetres, kilometres, and Celsius. If the defaults look wrong, check your region.
Some Values Have Their Own Rules
- Money keeps each amount’s own currency, and converts totals into your display currency. See How Kaizora Handles Other Currencies.
- Macronutrients are in grams, apart from the Food Log’s cards and Nutrition’s Overview, which show protein, carbohydrate, and fat as the energy they yield, in your unit of energy.
- A reference range or a habit shows its bounds or target in the unit you set it in.
A Value That’s Wrong, Not Just Converted
If a value is off by a factor, such as a weight about 2.2 times too big, it was probably typed with the wrong unit chosen. Edit it and choose the right unit.
