Look Back on Any Day With the Timeline
How the Timeline lists everything you've recorded, day by day, how entries are grouped, and what each entry's menu does.
Updated
Timeline, in the sidebar, lists everything you’ve recorded across every area, newest first, each day in a card of its own under a heading such as Today, Yesterday, or Tue, Nov 3. Older days load as you scroll.
Each Line
Every entry looks the same wherever it’s listed, on the Timeline or a page’s History:
- its page’s icon;
- what it is, such as a food’s name, an activity’s title, or a metric;
- a line of detail;
- its values, such as a sleep’s stages (“REM 1 h 30 min”), and when it was;
- a badge where one says how it stands, such as a reference range it’s outside, an ECG’s classification, or a lab result outside the lab’s range.
What’s Grouped
Most entries are a line each. A few are grouped, only for display:
- A night’s sleep is one line, however many spans of time in bed, asleep, and in each stage it’s made of.
- A day’s locations are its stays, the trips between them, and any location in neither.
- More than 3 values of one metric on one day are one line, such as “12 values”, with their total or range. Show each value expands it in place.
Things such as a food or a lab result are never grouped.
What’s Left Out
Imported minute-by-minute streams, such as heart rate and steps from a watch, would drown everything else, so they’re left out. What you typed in for those metrics appears. Find every value on the metric’s page.
Each Entry’s Menu
Choosing a line does nothing; its … menu has what applies:
- See metric, or See sleep, or for a stay or a trip, See locations;
- Show on map, for a stay, a trip, or a location;
- Edit, in the form that logged it;
- Add as a place, for an unnamed stay;
- Delete, after you confirm. Imported entries go only with their source’s data.
